Running onstage in a trendy checked shirt and jeans, the youngster provoked an adoring reaction from the studio audience as he joined his mother.

Perching himself on her spinning red chair, little David couldn't help but beam as he was given the task of helping Jennifer select her next contestants.

Proving herself to be every inch the doting mother, the Dreamgirls star explains to her boy: 'If you like somebody, you tell mommy. Say 'Mommy, hit the buzzer', and we'll spin around!'

The pair then sit and listen intently to the next vocalist, pulling funny faces at each other as the budding pop star began to sing before David excitedly pressed the buzzer to spin the chair around.

It seems her sweet son is something of a natural in front of the camera - appearing on the show two weeks after dancing to Michael Jackson on his mother's Instagram.

In the sweet clip shared just before Christmas, he is seen standing in front of a mirror in a lavish lobby where Michael Jackson's 1987 hit Smooth Criminal was playing.

His big moment: David then excitedly pressed the buzzer to spin the chair around

Taking inspiration from some of the late King Of Pop's iconic moves, Daniel expertly pulled out a repertoire of dances to best replicate Michael.

Not only are his dance moves and cheeky personality a sensation, the lucky superstar offspring also had the chance to sing for Stevie Wonder at the recent premiere of her new animated movie, Sing.

Jennifer revealed: 'We were at the 'Sing' premiere, and Stevie Wonder is a good friend, and obviously he needs to meet Stevie and Stevie's like 'Sing David, sing!' I thought he was going to be too shy to sing but he did!'

David is Jennifer's first and only child at present, who she shares with professional wrestler fiancé David Otunga.

A goodun': The episode also features a 29-year-old opera singer, a youngster who has written for Skepta and even a rendition of Great Balls of Fire by the legendary Tom Jones (above)

The pair became engaged in 2008 after one year of dating, and they welcomed their first child David the following August.

Last year, the Oscar and Grammy-winning singer revealed to Glamour that it was her son David who helped her stay strong through the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew.

She said: 'I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child. I tell David all the time. You saved my life.'

Alongside David, the upcoming episode also features a 29-year-old opera singer from Liverpool, a youngster who has written for Skepta and even a rendition of Great Balls of Fire by the legendary Tom Jones.
