'Cultural understanding': Nick Cannon explains his reason for wearing turbans on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Nick Cannon talked about his turbans and ex-wife Mariah Carey's disastrous New Year's Eve performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The 36-year-old TV personality during an appearance airing on Monday wore a white turban embellished with a diamond.

Nick who also wore a grey T-shirt, white jacket and black jeans said he's been wearing turbans to raise 'cultural understanding'.

The America's Got Talent host said he's been studying turbans 'for quite some time' and wears them to encourage others to 'embrace differences'.

Ellen, 58, also asked Nick about Mariah's live New Year's Eve televised performance that was marred by technical difficulties. 

'You know me I'm a conspiracy theorist. I think the government did that, they set her up. That was a distraction,' joked Nick.

Nick added that things can 'go wrong a lot' on live television and that Mariah just got 'flustered'.

He also discussed being hospitalized during Christmas after being diagnosed in 2012 with lupus.

Nick said he had 'medication issues' that were 'life threatening' as 70 percent of his blood 'went to one of my arms'.

'This arm was like Popeye,' Nick said before doctors got his levels back to normal.

Ellen also showed pictures of a ball pit in his house for his five-year-old fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan with Mariah.

The kids also have access to a candy room complete with lots of sweet treats, a cotton candy maker and a Slurpee machine.

Nick also said that he was expecting a baby in about a month with Brittany Bell.
