'It's nice to feel you've got support!' One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson praises former bandmate Zayn Malik as he wins two nominations at 2017 BRIT Awards

Zayn Malik put his differences with Louis Tomlinson aside, in order to support him after the tragic passing of his mother Johannah Deakin in December. 

And Louis has now proved the long-standing rift between them is a thing of the past as he congratulated him on his two BRIT Award nominations during a recorded segment of The Brits Are Coming on Saturday night.

The singer, 25, was thrilled for his former One Direction band-mate as he enthused: 'Zayn had an absolute smash with Pillowtalk!'

Continuing on, Louis revealed: 'It’s a weird feeling to see us all on our own but it’s also nice to feel that you’ve got the support of the other lads!'

Zayn, who bagged the Best Single and British Artist Video Of The Year nominations at the BRITS this year, famously fell out with Louis following his departure from the group in March 2015 and began working with producer Naughty Boy. 

Last May, Zayn, 24, shocked fans after telling Louis to stop making 'b****y' comments about his life as he was no longer a member of the chart-topping boyband, after Tomlinson became embroiled in an ugly Twitter spat with Naughty Boy.

A few months down the line in November Zayn blasted One Direction's music as 'generic as f**k' in an interview with Fader magazine.

Shortly afterwards Louis revealed on the Jonathan Ross show that they hadn't spoken in a while, adding: 'I think he wants to distance himself a little bit.'

However, in January last year year Zayn appeared to extend an olive branch after he congratulated Louis on the birth of his son, Freddie. 

And the British-Pakistani star also offered his support when Louis' mum Johanna Deakin sadly passed away last month at at the age of 43 after battling leukaemia. 

Zayn tweeted wrote: '@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x' (sic).

An inside source close to the star told The Mirror paper:  'Zayn has been in touch with Louis privately, and will continue to offer his support that way.'

Meanwhile, things could get awkward at the BRITS award ceremony next month as Zayn is up in the same category as his ex Perrie Edwards with Little Mix's hit Shout Out To My Ex - a single long rumoured to be about him.  

The single garnered much attention, thanks to lyrics about a former boyfriend who's with 'some other chick'.

'I hope she getting better sex, Hope she ain't faking it like I did, babe,' the lyrics tellingly continued.

Zayne, 23, has found love with model Gigi Hadid, 21, since calling off his engagement to Perrie, 23, in August 2015. 

Awkward! Meanwhile, things could get award at the BRITS award ceremony next month as Zayn is up in the same category as his ex Perrie Edwards with Little Mix's hit Shout Out To My Ex - a single long rumoured to be about him

The pop songstress - who's rumoured to be dating Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - will battle it out with her ex-boyfriend of three years at the awards, which will be aired on February 22. 

Meanwhile as well as Little Mix, Zayn will up against the likes of James Arthur and Coldplay for Best Single.

For British Artist Video Of The Year, he will battle it out with an array of big names such as Calvin Harris and Adele.
