With three young children, Kristin Cavallari and husband Jay Cutler don't get much time alone together.

So with Jay's 30th birthday as an excuse, the couple decided to leave the kids at home for a rare trip with friends.

And they certainly seemed to be enjoying every moment, as the pair stripped off to their swimwear for a day under the Mexican sun.

Kristin also made frequent social media updates - posting pictures with her handsome hubby letting loose, soaking up the sun and cuddling under the stars.

Everyone was clearly in great spirits and having a wonderful time, fueled by a drink or two.

The short vacation to Puerto Vallarta came after onetime reality star Kristin tried her hand at presenting, joining the E! team presenting red carpet coverage from the Golden Globes last week.

Following her successful evening, the shoe and jewelry designer revealed to her fans that she was leaving Emerald Duv, the accessories line she started in 2015 with friend Chelsea Bulte.

'I've decided to launch my own jewelry line, and since I was solely designing the past collections at Emerald Duv, it will have a similar aesthetic: effortless, timeless, and refined,' she shared with fans from her Instagram account.

'I'm hoping to have my new line launched by April but stay tuned!!'
