Donald Trump has slammed Saturday Night Live and Alec Baldwin calling its latest sketch about the president-elect and the Russian golden shower claims a 'complete hit job'.

'@NBCNews is bad but Saturday Night Live is the worst of NBC. Not funny, cast is terrible, always a complete hit job. Really bad television!,' Trump tweeted on Sunday.

His response came after his incoming press secretary Sean Spicer also hit out at the NBC program during an interview calling it a 'left wing hit piece'.

Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday that Saturday Night Live was always a 'complete hit job'

Spicer said SNL's cold open featuring Alec Baldwin mocking Trump over the discredited Russian golden shower claims was 'inappropriate' and 'not funny'.

He was asked how he felt about the sketch during an appearance on Howard Kurtz' MediaBuzz program on Fox News on Sunday.

'Saturday Night Live used to be funny and it's gone from being funny to just bad,' he said. 'Those aren't jokes, they are inappropriate, they turn off people.'

'It is not funny, it is inappropriate, it shows that Saturday Night Live is going from being funny to just a left-wing hit piece.

The cold open featured a press conference with Trump, played by Baldwin, as he fielded questions from reporters for the first time since being elected.

It was supposed to be a reenactment of a the controversial press conference he held on Wednesday where he was grilled about the so-called 'dirty dossier' compiled by a British ex-spy.

Despite Trump's comments, Alec Baldwin has already promised that he will return to play the president-elect on SNL the day after the inauguration.

'All of this comedy stuff we do on SNL, Trump is our head writer. Trump just hands it to us in a basket with a big bow on it every day,' Baldwin told Extra last week.

Trump has taken aim at SNL and Baldwin previously, with the pair getting into a brief Twitter feud late last year.

The latest sketch to fire Trump up involved a reporter wanting to ask him 'about your big Russian pee pee party'.

Trump fired back: 'No, no, I'm not talking about the pee pee because it didn't happen. Next question.'

Spicer said the sketch was 'over the top'.

'I think for a lot of people regardless of your political persuasion, that's not what you're tuning in for,' he said.

'If someone had done this to the Obamas there would be outrage.'

The sketch continued with more questions about pee, before Baldwin went on a pun-laden rant about what was really important.

'I do not want to talk about the pee pee. I want to talk about what's really important, which is jobs,' he said.

'I'm going to bring back a thick stream of jobs. The biggest, strongest, steadiest stream you've ever seen. This country will be literally showered with jobs because I'm a major whiz at jobs.

'This will be a golden opportunity for me as president to make a big splash. Now whose with me? You're in? You're in? Next question.'

A shirtless Putin, posed as a reporter, started pressuring Trump about revelations Russian was behind the election hackings. He introduced himself as 'Wolf Blizter from CNN'

It followed the release of a 'dirty dossier' this week that claimed the president-elect paid prostitutes to urinate on each other on a Moscow hotel bed once slept in by Barack and Michelle Obama and that Russia had compromising tapes of the event.

The sketch later zoned in on Russia as Trump faced questions from a reporter about why he wouldn't say on the record that the Kremlin was behind the hacking.

After much pressure, he said: 'Russia hacked the election. Are you happy, mom?'

It then cut to another question from a shirtless Vladimir Putin who was supposedly posing as a reporter.

'Yes, hello. I am American journalist Wolf Blitzer. Are you sure Russia was behind hacking?' Putin said.

Trump faltered: 'I mean, maybe.'

Putin then held up a tape with the words 'Pee Pee Tape' written on it as he said: 'Are you really, really sure?'

'It was China. I mean, Canada. It was Meryl Streep. Okay. This press conference is over. Thank you all for peeing here, I mean for p***ing here, I mean for being here,' Trump stuttered.

The sketch press conference also featured Trump saying how much he loved the press before refusing to take questions from CNN (left) and Buzzfeed (right) reporters

Trump also had his tax lawyer on hand to prove he was actually divesting from his companies with a bunch of 'fake documents'

Trump also touched on his z-list inauguration line-up, how his two sons Beavis and Butt-Head (left) were taking over his companies

The sketch press conference also featured Trump saying how much he loved the press before refusing to take questions from CNN and Buzzfeed.

'God I'm loving this press conference, I love the press, I respect the press. Let's take another question from the press,' Trump said.

He first refused Buzzfeed saying: 'You're a failing pile of garbage. You want to know why? Because I took your quiz last night and I'll tell you right now I'm not a Joey, I'm a Rachel.'

Trump then ignored a question from CNN.

'No not CNN either, you are overrated. Fake news. I tried to watch your network last night and it was just some crazy blond woman spouting lies.'

He was then informed the woman was actually his aide Kelly-Anne Conway who looked like she does the 'bucket challenge with her make-up everyday'.

Trump also touched on his z-list inauguration line-up, how his two sons Beavis and Butt-Head were taking over his companies and had his tax lawyer on hand to prove he was actually divesting from his companies.
