'She'll always be part of the show': This Morning's Sharon Marshall wore Denise Robertson's earrings at the NTAs so the late agony aunt 'could be on the stage with them' for their win

Phillip Schofield has revealed that the This Morning soap expert, Sharon Marshall, wore the late Denise Robertson's earrings to the National Television Awards.

Speaking the morning after, on Thursday's edition of the ITV daytime show, the 54-year-old presenter made the revelation as they looked back at their acceptance speech for winning Best Live Magazine show.

He explained: 'Sharon was wearing a pair of Denise's earrings, so Denise was on stage.'

Denise died from pancreatic cancer on March 31 at the age of 83 after working as an agony aunt on the show for 27 years. 

The team dedicated an episode to Denise as a tribute following her passing, as well as paying tribute to her during their Christmas episode, and dedicating their TV Choice Award to her.

Sharon looked beautiful at the NTA's on Wednesday as she walked the O2 Arena's red carpet in Denise's glittering diamond earrings. 

The television personality wore her auburn locks in a chic chignon bun to further highlight the dazzling jewellery, whilst a neutral make-up palette accentuated her pretty features.  

Showing off her tanned and toned legs, Sharon donned a glittering green dress with a thigh high split, and donned a pair of patent black heels.

Onto a winner: This Morning scooped Best Live Magazine show yet again at the NTAs 

Denise, from Sunderland, joined This Morning for its first broadcast in 1988. Her popularity led to her being offered her own TV show in 2000, called Dear Denise.

She made several guest appearances on other TV programmes and was a regular fixture on Channel 5's Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

Denise was widowed twice - losing first husband Alex to cancer in 1972 and then Jack to a stroke in 1995. She also lost her 44-year-old stepson John to cancer in 2006.

She was awarded an MBE a decade ago and given the freedom of the City of Sunderland.
