'They've adopted Steve': Louis Tomlinson says One Direction fans embrace new DJ collaborator Aoki

Louis Tomlinson said One Direction fans have 'adopted' his new collaborator Steve Aoki while promoting their new song on Wednesday in New York City.

The 25-year-old English singer and 39-year-old DJ were interviewed jointly by cable music provider Music Choice after debuting Just Hold On on US television.

'The One Direction fans have said that they’ve adopted you now Steve,' Tomlinson said while sitting next to his pal.

Aoki confirmed it and said he was 'part of the family'.

'They are incredible, the One Direction fans, the Louis Tomlinson fans. They're the definition of what a fan is,' Aoki said.

'They get together, they rally around the song. They rally around what's important,' he said.

The Grammy-nominated DJ also praised fans for helping spread the word about their collaboration Just Hold On.

'They get these songs in front of people's faces, tastemakers, other fans, radio. They are like the army of bees going around and doing this amazing work that any artist would dream to have to push us all,' he added.

Tomlinson and Aoki were making the rounds promoting the catchy dance tune and both also stopped by SiriusXM on Wednesday morning for an interview.

The dynamic duo teamed up on Tuesday for the US television debut of Just Hold On during a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Just Hold On was released on December 10, 2016 as Tomlinson's debut single since his pop boy band One Direction went on hiatus.

The dance song was first performed last month by Tomlinson on the season finale of UK's The X Factor where he first shot to fame with One Direction in 2010.

Tomlinson debuted the song just a few days after his mother Johannah Deakin died of leukemia at age 43.

The X Factor judge Simon Cowell praised Tomlinson after his performance.

'What you've just done... the bravery... I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person,' Simon told him.

Fallon introduced Tomlinson and Aoki before their performance at the chat show studio in New York City.

Tomlinson arrived in the Big Apple on Sunday after partying in Los Angeles. 

The singer recently split from 21-year-old actress Danielle Campbell after dating for more than a year.

Tomlinson also celebrated the first birthday of his son Freddie Reign on Saturday with ex Briana Jungwirth, 23.

Jungwirth shared a video on Instagram of Tomlinson holding the former couple's son and looking on adoringly as he blew out a single candle on his birthday cake.
