'Oh the horror!': Dame Joan Collins on the nightmarish scene at her home after a leak in a neighbour's flat led to a ceiling caving in 

With rubble strewn across the floor, this was the nightmarish scene in Dame Joan Collins’s home after a ceiling caved in.

A leak in a neighbour’s flat above caused the damage, which happened while the 83-year-old star, pictured right, was away.

Yesterday, she posted a photograph of the devastation on Instagram, showing chunks of masonry and plaster covering the carpet and furniture of her sitting room in Belgravia, Central London.

Dame Joan wrote: ‘Oh the horror – woke up to the news that ceiling collapsed above sitting room due to neighbours’ water leak.’

Dame Joan, who also has homes in Los Angeles and St Tropez, is thought to be in the US at the moment – last week she posted pictures of California online.

The actress, who was away at the time of the incident, posted a picture on Instagram of her sitting room in Belgravia, central London with the damage 

The veteran actress, who is married to her fifth husband Percy Gibson, 51, is promoting her film The Times Of Their Lives, which is produced by Mr Gibson. 

Dame Joan plays a film star on a French road trip.
