Sarah Hyland unable to attend Screen Actors Guild Awards due to health reasons

The Modern Family star was forced to pull out of the annual awards at the last minute Sunday.

Just hours before she was set to walk the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Sarah Hyland revealed to fans that she had to make the tough decision to not attend.

The 26-year-old announced her decision on Instagram saying that due to a health issue she would not be joining her Modern Family co-stars.

Couldn't attend: Just hours before she was set to walk the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, Sarah Hyland revealed to fans that she had to make the tough decision to not attend due to health reasons

Posting a picture of herself and her boyfriend Dominic Sherwood kissing at last year's awards, she said: 'Sad to say I will not be attending the sag awards today for some health reasons.

'So I leave you all with an adorable picture from last year's @sagawards.'

Standing testament to just how last minute the decision was, Sarah said she even had a dress ready to go.

'Ps. You know my dress was gonna be turnt too,' she joked.

Sarah's show Modern Family is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

The young actress has fought a lifelong battle with kidney dysplasia and underwent a kidney transplant in 2013.

While she did not say if the health reasons preventing her from going to the awards were related to her kidneys, she seems to have taken ill very quickly.

The previous evening, Sarah made sure to attend her co-star Ariel Winter's 19th birthday party.

Posting a snap from the party, Sarah said: 'Happy 19th Birthday to the little sister I always wanted but never had.

'I know 19 is the most useless age as you get older but think of it as one year closer to your 20s! Love you so much.'
