Bruno Mars reveals he would 'trade music' to have his late mother back as he opens up about her heartbreaking death

Bruno Mars is the cover star for Latina magazine's February issue.

The talented star got candid about his late mother and revealed everything has changed drastically since she passed away.

Speaking to the magazine, the 24K Magic hitmaker said: 'My life has changed.'

'She's more than my music. If I could trade music to have her back, I would. I always hear her say, 'Keep going and keep doing it.'''

The 31-year-old singer's mother Bernadette San Pedro Bayot passed away in 2013 aged just 55 after suffering with a brain aneurysm. 

And despite admitting he would throw in the towel in order to have his mother back, the Just The Way You Are musician previously revealed he hopes he will be remembered for his music and not for any 'scandals or controversy.'

Asked how he wants to be remembered, he shared: 'I hope that my music does the talking. I just wanna do music.

'It could be boring for people this day and age, but I don't wanna be known for no scandals or controversy. I want to be the guy that brings joy to your life through his music. That's it.'

Meanwhile, Bruno claimed the hardships he faced as a child - when his family were forced to make anywhere their home - gave him a certain 'mentality' when it came to making music.

He said previously: 'My dad was just the king of finding these little spots for us to stay that we should never have been staying at. 

'It didn't have plants growing inside. I don't know what happened to the roof. But the bed would be right there in the middle.'

'We'd all sleep in one bed. We had each other, and it never felt like it was the end of the world. Maybe that's why I have this mentality when it comes to the music. Because I know I'm going to figure it out, just give me some time.'
