Huma Abedin was spotted having dinner with fashion designer friend Prabal Gurung on Friday night.

Abedin, whom Hillary Clinton called her 'second daughter', has been seen dining with Anne Fulenwider and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in recent weeks as she ponders her post-political career.

Describing her dinner with Gurung in Indochine, an onlooker told Page Six: 'She looked serious and it seemed like they were having an intense conversation.'

She had worked for the former First Lady since joining her White House staff as a 19-year-old college intern.

It comes as a new report revealed her estranged husband Anthony Weiner is hoping for a reconciliation.

Abedin, 40, separated from her 52-year-old husband in August, after it emerged he had sent a photo of his crotch to a woman while the couple's five-year-old son was sleeping next to him.

Weiner spent a month at an exclusive all-male sex rehabilitation center in Tennessee as he tried to make amends with his wife.

However sources said a reconciliation was 'very unlikely' and the divorce was still on.

It followed him having to resign from Congress in 2011 after it was found he had been sending sexually explicit photographs to women on Twitter.

Following that, he resigned from his position in the US House of Representatives.

Two years later, he and Abedin attempted to reboot his political career with a run for New York mayor - a bid that failed after it emerged Weiner had continued to exchange sexually explicit messages with other women.
