'I only did my part- if you're intelligent you'll read between the lines': Ray J discusses infamous sex tape that catapulted Kim Kardashian to fame... as he calls Kris Jenner a 'hustler'

It was the sex tape that kick-started Kim Kardashian's swift ambush on the ladder to fame. 

And Ray J has opened up about his ex's ascent from wardrobe assistant to his popstar sister Brandy, to the world's most famous reality star who mingles with the A list.

The 36-year-old One Wish hitmaker appeared to hint that momager Kris Jenner was instrumental to Kim's Hollywood climb, which paved the way for the Kardashian-Jenner empire.

Speaking to Heat, the singer's attempts to remain coy about his former lady love only went so far, and when pressed about whether she was 'obsessed with fame', he slightly relented, replying: 'I only did my part [in making her famous]. As a man I tried to play my part in the situation. If you're intelligent you can read between the lines'.

Following the 2003 leaked sex tape, rumours were rife that momager Kris Jenner leaked the tape following the success of Paris Hilton's racy flick, something the Kardashian family vehemently denied- landing $5million after suing the porn company.  

Speaking about Kim's jaw-dropping rise to fame, Ray J certainly appeared to credit Kris, branding her 'a real, true hustler'.

Speaking about their relationship, Ray J revealed: 'Kim was just a ball of energy, always someone who was ready to have a good time all the time.'

But he was horrified when their sex tape, which he didn't have a copy of, leaked, admitting: 'When it came out I was like ''damn I'm done'' Whatever my sister's invited to they're going to put in a note saying 'Don't bring RayJ"'!

Meanwhile Ray J has married model Princess Love, who appears alongside him in reality show Love & Hip Hop.

The duo recently renewed their vows just six months after getting married, following his time in the Big Brother house.

Following his appearance in CBB earlier this month Ray J blasted Kanye West for dredging up the past in his recent hits, after Kim's husband reportedly banned rapper Ray J from talking about it. 

Speaking in an interview with wife Princess Love, the 36-year-old branded Kanye hypocritical after he featured a naked waxwork of Ray J in his Famous promo.

'It was hypocritical to me, it was like why can't I speak on it then?' Ray J admitted during an interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra this week.

Defending her husband, natural beauty Princess Love jumped in with: 'You want to speak on it now that you're ready to sell records.

'Don't try to blackball him out of music, then talk about it when you're ready to make music, make money and profit from it.

'Kanye for sure', Princess Love, who stars on reality show Love & Hop Hop, clarified.

'It's just disgusting to me and it's tasteless. If you're about that life then don't stop him (Ray J) from making his money,' Love & Hip Hop beauty Princess Love added

And directing his questioning back towards One Wish hitmaker Ray J, Ace added: 'You don't have a relationship with him (Kanye) at all?'

'My sister (singer Brandy) is friends with him so it's weird,' Ray J admitted.

And asked whether Princess feels awkward about the sex tape, she responded: 'He didn't do the Kim K sex tape while he was with me so I don't care.

'That's not him he's the hardest working person I know, he's business day and night.'

'Music and TV is just a fun side thing', Ray J added, 'to have a wife, somebody strong, is what god wants, she's strong and doesn't take cr*p'.

Last July it was reported that Ray J was considering to sue Kanye over the use of him as a naked doll in bed with Kim for the Famous promo.

His business manager, David Weintraub, told the Heat magazine: 'We're talking about potentially doing something.

'It seems to be becoming an issue - this is like the fourth time in six months he's done this. 

Kanye debuted the video with a special viewing party on 24 June and appeared to invite potential lawsuits over it 24 hours later.

He tweeted: 'Can somebody sue me already #I'llwait.' 

Meanwhile Ray J married Love & Hip Hop co-star Princess Love last summer at Los Angeles' Cathedral of Saint Vibiana.

The star-studded guestlist included his sister Brandy - known for her hit The Boy Is Mine. 

At the time, People Magazine reported that the bride wore a Lazaro ball gown and expressed that Ray J was 'the only person I’ve ever been with that I couldn’t see myself without'.

Ray J echoed the sentiment: 'Even when I wasn’t with her, I told my friends "She the one, she the one". It was just something about how I felt when she was around me.'
