Daddy's boy! Katherine Heigl posts sweet birthday message for her husband alongside a photo of their newborn resting on his shoulder

She gave birth to her son on December 20.

And on Monday, Katherine Heigl shared a sweet snap of her newborn asleep on husband Josh Kelly's shoulders.

Along with the photo, the actress shared a heartfelt message in honour of her hubby's 37th birthday.

In the snap, young Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr., one month, was sound asleep on his papa. 

The musician was the epitome of a proud dad, smiling from ear-to-ear while his precious son slept.   

Katherine, 38, gushed over her two boys in the photo's caption.

How @joshbkelley is finishing off his birthday, with sleepy snuggles from his namesake!' she began. 

Could not be more grateful for this extraordinary man and for this extraordinary day that he was born! Happy Birthday to the sexiest, funniest, smartest, most talented, charming man I have ever met!'

In an interview with People, the 27 Dresses star discussed her personal battle with her pregnancy weight. 

'I gained like 40 lbs.'

'That’s hard for an actress who’s spent her whole life trying to always lose that last 10,' she admitted.

Katherine reiterated her statement. 

'What was rough with the pregnancy was just the terror of the weight gain.'

Katherine is also mum to two other children. 

In September 2009, the former Grey's Anatomy star and her husband adopted daughter Nancy from South Korea, eight, nearly one year after her birth. 

Three years later, the couple added daughter Adalaide to their growing brood, in April 2012.
