When the harmonies kicked in, they were there for each other. 

Vanessa Hudgens and Jimmy Fallon performed an impressive rendition of the Friends theme song during The Tonight Show on Monday night.

The 28-year-old was discussing her new NBC show Powerless, when the duo began reminiscing about all the great comedies that have gone before it on the network.

'It's a very big deal; Thursday night NBC had some of the biggest sitcoms in the history of television — Seinfeld, Cheers....' he began.

'Friends,' the actress offered, before the pair performed their secret handshake in an eye-rolling segue. 

'That's what we are though, we're friends,' Jimmy agreed. 'We're family and we're friends.'

The two then grabbed a pair of mics and headed for the stools, as the opening strains of The Rembrandts' I'll Be There For You descended.

Vanessa plays Emily Locke, who is taking on a new job in Charm City as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, working for Bruce Wayne's cousin.

The company designs consumer goods that protect the public from the collateral damage of superhero battles that commonly befall the city.

'It's not about the superheroes,' she said. "A lot of the shows we see are always about the superheroes, but it's like, when you see an epic battle going on and they're crashing into buildings, what happens to the people who are trying to walk to their job?

'So, we're those people. We work at Wayne Securities; We're in the Bruce Wayne Industries umbrella. 

'My boss, Van Wayne, is Bruce Wayne's cousin, who is a complete idiot played by Alan Tudyk—who is not an idiot, to be clear!' she added.

'They make products so people can live their days a little more safely as a powerless person.'
