  • Here he lets us in on his top workout moves, diet tips, and when you can cheat

Everyone is going ga-ga for La La Land, the romantic musical which is picking up nominations and awards left right and center this year.

Just last week, Emma and co-star Ryan Gosling won awards for their outstanding performances as lead roles in the film, Mia and Sebastian, at the SAG awards.

Taking center stage at so many public events, Emma has stunned in glitzy gowns and smokey eye makeup.

But as for her petite frame, she is quite relaxed about keeping it in shape. 'I discovered I have deep-seated rage when I'm holding heavy weights over my head', Emma told S Magazine.

'Whatever dormant anger I have in me, that's where it comes out. That's not the kind of working out I want to do… I'm usually a pretty peaceful person, but for some reason when I get in the gym something bubbles up in me.'

But with stamina and energy needed for her all singing and dancing role, Emma has trained with Jason Walsh, founder of Rise Nation, a popular celeb fitness studio.

The personal trainer opened his studio last year, and the classes, focused on climbing movement, are popular with Hollywood stars, some of which he has trained one-to-one.

His clients include Matt Damon, Jennifer Aniston, and his ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff.

What are the main principles of healthy living for Jason Walsh? He lets us in on some tips…

Q. What is your most reliable go-to type of exercise for all round fitness?

'It is, and always will be, the deadlift and variations of the deadlift. Its a complex movement that incorporates every major muscle group working together. It's very important.'

Q. What is your favorite fat- busting exercise and why?

'RISE NATION. It uses the whole body, it's low impact, and the climbing motion burns twice as many calories as anything else out there.'

Rise Nation is an exercise movement classes created by Jason.

The classes, ran in Hollywood at his personal training studio, is primarily focused on climbing, incorporating human's innate way of moving – crawling, walking, running and climbing.

Men's Health magazine performed a blind study comparing cardio studios, and Rise Nation came number one with 22.3 calories burned per minute compared to 13.8 or less at all other studios in the study. Ashley Tisdale is a big fan.

Q. What ratio of cardio-weights do you advise?

'3:1 Cardio is nothing if you don't move well. Staying strong supports the skeletal system, stabilizes joints, makes your cardio safer and more effective. If strength training is done right, you get plenty of cardio from lifting as well. Cardio comes secondary.'

Q. What would be the one tip you use to keep clients, or yourself, motivated to continue a workout?

'I fix client's problems first and foremost. Moving pain free and quality of living is everything. Once you improve that, and/or get rid of something that's been nagging them, you're in and you've gained trust.'

Q. What diet do you typically follow?

'I eat sensibly. I do think sugar and the abundance of carbohydrates is the root to most obesity in the US. You've never heard of essential sugars and/or carbohydrates, right?!'

Q. What is the best diet tip you can give people?

'There are three: eat breakfast, taper carbohydrates throughout the day, and don't eat late.'

Q. Are there any foods you limit or eat more of?

'I limit all sugars, and I add UDO's Choice Oil to food daily for essential fats. That's where I get my energy from, not sugar. You could lose 10lbs immediately just from cutting out sugar.'

Q. If you have a cheat meal, what is it and how often?

'I love Mexican and Italian, and will allow myself it usually once a week.'

Q. What do most of us get wrong when we aren’t seeing results?

'Consuming alcohol, sugar, late eating and too much food in general.'
