Now Gwyneth says we should burn our bras! Paltrow's Goop site features guide to setting lingerie on fire by the light of a full moon to 'cleanse' negative energy of failed relationships

  • Ritual will help women gain closure by disposing of their expensive lingerie
  • Life advisor and relationship expert Suzannah Galland says it can 'carry the negative energy and memories of past flames'
  • Advice on Gwyneth's lifestyle site explains how you will feel 'liberated'

It's time to take a match to that expensive lingerie set your ex-boyfriend gave you last Valentine's Day.

That's the bizarre advice featured on Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle site Goop, which warns that your bras could be carrying the 'negative energy and memories' of your failed relationships.

The ritual is detailed on the site by relationship expert Suzannah Galland, who explains it's most effective when performed during a full moon - and notes the next one is coming up on February 11, right before Valentine's Day.

Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle site Goop has approved a new bra-burning ritual that claims to rid you of memories from your doomed relationships

It's not enough to just clear out your closet, now Gwyneth wants us to start burning our bras to really cleanse ourselves and gain closure

Galland says that the lingerie women buy when they're with a certain partner hold memories of times when both parties were their most aroused and filled with pleasure.

BRAS BEGONE: HOW TO DO THE CLEANSE

 1. Find a safe place where you can light a fire. (Why not invite a few close friends to join you, too?)

2. Before you start, you might want to write out a few words, or recite a prayer to help release and forgive.

3. Throw your needs-to-go lingerie into the fire one piece at a time.

4. Watch intently as the pieces burn. Know that your past is recycling into the ethers, liberating your future.

But after a break-up, that residual energy is left behind, making it difficult to find closure from an ex when those garments are still lingering in your underwear drawer.

'Our underwear chronicles our love lives. The lingerie you wore with past lovers can carry the toxic residue of those relationships, along with painful memories,' she writes.

'While we might not think to trash lingerie that once made us feel so good - or that we spent a lot of money on - it’s a powerful, healing gesture to make.'

The post is the latest in a stream of unorthodox health, wellbeing and relationship tips and bizarre products endorsed by mother-of-two Gwyneth's Goop website.

Some of the most notorious examples from the recent past include the introduction of stone 'sex eggs' said to improve women's orgasms to its online store, and a guide to vaginal steaming.

THE GOOP GUIDE TO GOOD LIVING

Bra burning isn't the first post on Gwyneth's website to raise eyebrows...

Goop has recommended kitchen 'essentials' like the Kamado-San Donabe Rice Cooker - just $210

The website's 'easy work-morning routine' has 10 steps - starting with applying $110 organic facial oil

Gwyneth famously espoused the Korean practice of Chai Yok - using a herb-infused steam bath on the vagina
