'She's your daughter?' Kate Beckinsale, 43,is mistaken for the mother of her ex Michael Sheen's partner Sarah Silverman, 46

There's no denying that Sarah Silverman looks a good decade younger than her 46 years.

So hopefully that will provide some consolation to Kate Beckinsale, who was mistaken for the comic's MOTHER after she posted a picture of them both out to dinner with a large group of friends.

'That Sarah is your daughter? Pretty like you @katebeckinsale,'  wrote a fan on Instagram, obviously trying to be friendly.

Despite being three years younger than Sarah, 43-year-old Kate saw the funny side, replying: 'Granddaughter. We are very proud of her.'

Adding to the humour of the mix-up, Sarah is actually the long-term partner of Kate's ex Michael Sheen.

Kate and Michael have a daughter together, 18-year-old Lily Mo Sheen, and Sarah has long been involved in her life.

The dinner was held at celebrity hotspot Craig’s in West Hollywood.

Joining Kate's part was her Serendipity co-star Molly Shannon, Lance Bass and his husband Michael Turchin, JoAnna Garcia and her husband Nick Swisher, among others.
