'Lady Gaga trying to outdo Spongebob': Artist gets rave reviews for Super Bowl LI halftime performance... but was still subject of hilarious memes

Lady Gaga was the talk of the Super Bowl.

But that didn't stop the internet world from poking a little bit of fun at the singer.

The 30-year-old singer was the talk of the internet after her energetic performance at halftime on Sunday night.

What a show: Lady Gaga received rave reviews for her Super Bowl LI halftime performance but that didn't stop hilarious memes from being posted on Sunday

Blow the crowd away like Lady Gaga in Versace

Lady Gaga gave a stellar performance at this year's Super Bowl, but what is any performance without a proper costume? Gaga partnered up with her pal Donatella Versace to conjure up this sparkly disco creation.

Reminiscent of Ziggy Stardust's looks, this amazing one piece and matching boots feature lavender iridescent sequins with football gear inspired details.

Versace is never shy to push their styles into an almost performative function, so Lady Gaga is a perfect client! Although we can't all wear onesies and go go boots, you can definitely translate Lady Gaga's look into a party dress!

This dress would transition beautifully into a body con mini dress fit for a super model. Try a long sleeve sparkly dress for your next night out to grab the crowd's attention.

You can shop Versace (right) or take a look at our edit below!

As the popular character was also suspended during the Goofy Goober Rock song on the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie  from 2004 many took to the social network to point that out.

Though there were several funny posts poking fun at the performance, they were definitely outweighed by the praise especially from celebrities.

Katy Perry performed at halftime two years ago and she loved the performance as she wrote: 'I want jumping gifs stat! Bravo @ladygaga.'

Bruno Mars has also been a featured performer in recent years as he wrote: '@ladygaga you killed that!!!!'

Gaga even happened to turn casual fans into huge fans including action man Chris Pratt.
