Bradley Wiggins has suffered another blow to his hopes of being crowned The Jump champion after tearing his calf in the launch night show.

Already nursing a sore ankle from practice, the cycling great, 36, ripped his muscle during a closely fought parallel slalom battle against comedian Mark Nolan on Sunday night.

A source told The Sun: 'Bradley was gutted to have sustained an injury and is doing all he can to stay in the process.

'He was taken to see a doctor and given painkillers.

'But Bradley’s as hard as nails so bosses think he will be fine to carry on – as long as he doses himself up regularly.'

According to the publication, the Olympian was seen moving gingerly around a bar in the Austrian Alps before seeking medical treatment.  

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Bradley and The Jump for comment and is awaiting a response.

Just one day prior to launch night, Bradley shared an Instagram snap of his ankle being bandaged up - but showed his fighting spirit by writing: 'The show must go on.'

There was more controversy involving the cyclist after he was heard swearing well before the watershed and just five minutes into the live broadcast.

Host Davina McCall was forced to apologise after Bradley said 'p**s', with fans flocking to Twitter to comment on the slip up.

Bradley's injury woes come after his co-star Vogue Williams was forced to pull out before the competition had even begun, after suffering a serious knee injury.

The stunning Irish DJ, 31, fell awkwardly while practising for a slalom race against model Caprice.

She announced the news on Instagram, writing: 'So disappointed to be out of The Jump this year. I've had such an amazing time and met the best people whilst learning such a cool skill. My knee will heal and If the show comes back next year I'll be in it to win it'
