Aston Villa slumped to a pre-season 3-1 defeat against League One side Chesterfield on Wednesday night after goals from Tenadyi Darikwa, Sam Hird and Sam Morsy.
Paul Lambert's side were a goal down inside six minutes as Darikwa got in behind the Villa defence to nudge past Brad Guzen.
Chesterfield doubled their lead just before half-time when Hird converted a Gary Roberts corner.

Villa staged a brief fightback in the second half and pulled a goal back with a neat strike from Jack Grealish who raced onto a Charles Nzogbia cross.
However, the comeback was short-lived as Chesterfield put themselves back into a two goal lead late on when Morsy finished off an impressive counter-attack to put the game to bed.
Lambert's side will now face pre-season friendlies against Groningen and Walsall before finishing off their Premier League preparation against Parma on August 9.
