James Corden and Will Smith take to the skies in a helicopter... as Ariana Grande and a host of other celebs join him in exciting Carpool Karaoke trailer

The segment behind the wheel has been met with huge success as part of his chat show, The Late Late Show.

However James Corden's Carpool Karaoke has now been taken to the next level, as he launches a series of the skits on Apple Music.

In a preview aired during the Grammys on Sunday, the 38-year-old is seen riding in not just a car but also a helicopter with Hollywood actor Will Smith - before enlisting the likes of Ariana Grande and John Legend for the next installment of the show.

In the teaser, the Gavin and Stacey star is seen joined by a number of big names, including Will Smith, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Alicia Keys and Chelsea Handler for the revamped edition of the series.

First driving with the I Am Legend star as normal, the pair then amp up the glamour by taking to the sky in a helicopter - squealing as they soar above the Hollywood sign.

Making the famous skit format more playful, the duo are then seen making multiple stop offs during their car journey, to the delight and hilarity of viewers.

Other stars set to feature on the new series, which is airing on Apple Music this year, are John Cena, Chelsea Handler, Billy Eichner, Metallica, Michael Strahan and Jeff Gordon.

The trailer, which sees snippets of each episode combined into a remix, premiered as an advert during the Grammy Awards on CBS.

Shaking things up for the new version of the production, Corden is not set to host at the wheel for every episode - with the series seeing 16 celebrity pairs singing their favourite songs instead.

Carpool Karaoke has starred the likes of Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Adele and Stevie Wonder in the past - with the Adele clip going viral online by scoring a whopping 42 million hits in five days.

A segment featuring the then First Lady Michelle Obama was even aired in July 2016, before a primetime special featuring highlights of the segment as well as a new clip with Jennifer Lopez was created - which went on to win an Emmy.

The British actor was host of the prestigious Grammy Awards on Sunday, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Having found popularity in the States since taking on the frontman role on The Late Late Show in 2015, the former Fat Friends star proved a hit on the night as he made a slapstick entrance onstage - before performing his opening monologue as a rap, referencing Beyonce's recent baby news and even President Trump.

His career only going from strength to strength however, James has recently turned to acting as he began shooting a scene in the new Ocean's Eight movie.

The funny man, who is rumoured to play a nosy insurance investigator, was seen on set in New York last week with his co-star Richard Armitage.

Although the plot of the movie has been kept under wraps, a shooting location at New York's Met seems to back up reports that the girl gang will attempt a heist at the glitzy Met Gala.

The all-star cast includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Dakota Fanning, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna and Awkwafina among others.

Matt Damon will reprise his role as Linus Caldwell from Ocean's Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, filmed between 2001 and 2007.
