The family of a bullied schoolboy have released shocking pictures of his swollen and bloodied face after he was attacked when he got off a bus.

These shocking images show how the 15-year-old was left bloodied and with a huge swelling to the right side of his face after the assault on his way home from school.

The youngster suffered two fat lips and was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw.

Police are investigating the attack in Bridgend, South Wales and a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.

Family friend Sarah Davies said: 'Please, if anyone saw anything please tell the police.

'I'm sharing this with his mum's permission.'

Since Ms Davies posted the shocking images on a local Facebook page last week, they have been shared more than 8,000 times.

Residents in the area voiced their disgust as the pictures emerged.

One wrote: 'Some utter scumbags about - why oh why do people think its big and clever to kick the crap out of someone....

'I hope they catch the scumbag that did this.'

Anoter said: 'What a disgusting cowardly attack on a young boy. I hope he recovers soon Physically , and I hope he isn't too traumatised by this later on.' 

Officers have also appealed for witnesses to come forward following the assault last week.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: 'Police in Bridgend are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a teenage boy in North Cornelly to come forward.

'The incident occurred as the 15 year-old victim got off a bus at Woodland Place, at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

'He sustained serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

'A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.'
