George Clooney just announced he's going to become a dad for the first time at 55 year old.

And his good friend Matt Damon, 46, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing on Thursday joked about the actor's late start in life.

Ellen started the friendly banter when she asked about Matt's good friend, saying: 'You have a daughter going to college and he's now just starting his family.'

Matt took the bait, responding: 'It's really funny. He's got this group of really wonderful friends. For 30 years they've been out here together and really great group of guys.'

He explained the group is giving the Ocean's 11 actor a hard time for becoming an 'old' dad.

'All of those guys, their kids are either in college or on their way and now George is getting started, so it's pretty funny. I think they're having a good time with him.'

Matt also told the daytime host that his friend came to him for some advice before the arrival of his twins with wife Amal Clooney.

Ellen started the banter by pointing out that Matt has a daughter about to start college and George is justbeginning

'He said to me, ''Well, you have four'',' Matt explained. 'And I said, ''Yeah, but not at once. We did it one at a time. I don't know how anybody does twins. Those sleepless nights…and there's two of them? There's just no way''.'

The actor laughed as he said: 'But we'll see what happens to him.'

George and Amal are expecting their double bundle of joy in June.
