Karma Police: Motorist is delighted to see officer pull over the car which had just cut him off then give him a thumbs-up as he passes

  • Neil Hodson said an overtaking motorist forced him to swerve and break
  • But the impatient driver was immediately pulled over by the police
  • Neil said the instant karma incident left him 'smiling ear-to-ear'

An impatient motorist who 'cut up' a van suffered instant karma after a traffic copper pulled him over - before the policeman stuck his thumb up to the aggrieved driver.

Neil Hodson, 36, of Preston, Lancashire, claims he had to swerve and slam on the brakes when the white Vauxhall Corsa pushed front of him in rush hour traffic.

But the unfortunate hatchback driver apparently hadn't seen a Lancashire Police van just a few cars behind them - and officers swept in to instantly pull over the vehicle.

The van driver, who has run car delivery service Neil's Auto Services for 10 years, claims he was left 'smiling ear-to-ear' after the incident.

Neil said: 'Blackpool Road is fairly notorious for people cutting in like this - anyone from Preston will tell you that.

'I had a car on the trailer behind me so I was quite long, and he clearly didn't quite fancy staying behind me.

'You can't see it that well on the video, but I had to swerve quite a bit and hit the brakes when he pulled in.

'But he hadn't seen the police officer behind me, and as I looked in the mirror and the officer put on the blues and twos.

'I have to admit that I was smiling ear-to-ear because he had been a bit of an idiot.

'It wasn't crime-of-the century but it was bit amusing that he got caught as I see it happen quite a lot on the roads.'

Neil claims the police officer gave him the okay not to stop at the scene after he started to slow down.

But he said the clip has been well received by fellow dashboard camera fanatics.

Neil said: 'The policeman put out his thumb to tell me he had the situation sorted and that I didn't need to stop for it.

'It was good of him, because I'd started to slow down to stop and assist but he had everything sorted.

'In a lot of these type of videos, it is often down to people's opinions so it is nice to see a bit of closure for a change.'
