'Is that his dad?' BRIT Awards viewers are confused as Bradley Walsh hugs Rag'n'Bone Man on big win at show... as comedian announces plans to work with grime star Stormzy

He became an unlikely victor on the music scene when his swing album, Chasing Dreams, was named the highest-selling debut album of 2016 - beating Zayn Mailk.

And Bradley Walsh left fans scratching their heads all the more on Wednesday, when he was spotted sharing a table with Rag'n'Bone Man at the Brit Awards - and being the first to hug the singer when he scooped the Best British Breakthrough prize.

One viewer took to Twitter to enquire: 'Right hang on has anyone figured out how Rag n Bone Man and Bradley Walsh know each other because I need to know.'

A third viewer of the glittering awards show asked: 'Do my eyes deceive me when I see Bradley Walsh on the same table as @RagNBoneManUK?'

One mused about possible family ties, saying: 'Love Bradley Walsh, but I actually googled is he Rag['n']Bone's dad confused me why he was on his table!!!! (sic)'

But the 56-year-old host of The Chase - who arrived at the awards show with his wife of 20 years, Donna Derby - caused even more excitement when he jokingly stated on the red carpet that he's planning to work on an album with grime star Stormzy.

During an interview with the NME, the comedian and TV personality was greeted by the 23-year-old south Londoner, real name Michael Omari, who called him a 'legend'.

Bradley then said: 'My mate Stormzy, that. We hang together. Do a bit of grime. What else do we do, grunge? No, just grime. Definitely grime.'

He added: 'Me and Stormzy. We’re gonna do an album. We’re gonna do an album of Nelson Riddle arrangements in grime form. It’s gonna be called Griddle. We’re looking forward to it, we’re gonna collaborate.'

The star also gave Bruno Mars a special shout out, saying of the American chart-topper: 'He’s my mate. We have something in common. He’s from Hawaii. I like Hawaiian pizza. That’s quite cool. Other than that, I don’t know why I’m here.'

Before concluding the interview by saying that he needed a drink, Bradley revealed that it was his first BRIT Awards.

He said of the show: 'I'm normally sitting at home, I'll maybe watch it and then go out and make a cup of tea, get a biscuit. This year I got invited. Sold a couple of albums and that was it really... But I'm thrilled to be here, seriously.'

Bradley's album Chasing Dreams was the only UK debut to sell over 100,000 copies and go gold last year.

And he believes his success stems from being an all-round entertainer and worries new artists try too hard to be cool rather than create catchy songs.

He previously told The Guardian: 'It's just about being an entertainer; it's about having all those tools over the years to do all sorts: films, musicals, playing a bit of piano, running a quiz show - it just becomes part of the job.

'I like something you can hum along to. I think new artists sometimes miss the point ... I can't listen to rap music, it's not my thing. They say that they're the modern poets: of course they are, but it's not for me.

'Who is the biggest DJ at the moment? I don't even know what they're doing, they're taking two tunes and mashing them up together. They're not even their tunes! I dunno. I don't get it.'
