The Voice judges (including a barefoot Gavin Rossdale) pay homage to the iconic Beatles Abbey Road image to mark the beginning of the battle rounds

The Beatles' famous Abbey Road image is probably one of the most iconic pictures in music.

So it comes as no surprise that The Voice coaches, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Gavin Rossdale and Jennifer Hudson chose to recreate it themselves.

Gavin, 51, even removed his shoes in the style of Sir Paul McCartney for the image which was famously shot on a zebra crossing.

No doubt it was a particularly poignant moment for Tom Jones who was friends with the Beatles.

Last week, he revealed on the show that Paul McCartney wrote The Long And Winding Road for him back in the '60s.

The same show marked the end of the blind auditions and on Saturday night the battle rounds commence.

This week's show will be filmed at the world famous Abbey Road studios and Jennifer Hudson, 35, impressed upon her contestants just how special the recording studios were, and not just for Beatles fans.

'We are in a very special studio, y'all know that right?' the Oscar winner, who started her career on American Idol, said.

'The Beatles have recorded here, Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, like so many amazing artists, so that's why you guys are here. Are you ready?'

The setting is particularly apt after Tom Jones, 76, revealed on last week's show that Paul McCartney wrote the classic track The Long And Winding Road for him.

'I was in a club in London in the '60s - with Paul McCartney,' the It's Not Unusual singer began.

'And I said "Paul, could you write me a song?" And he said "OK".

'And that was the song - The Long and Winding Road. He said "this is the song but it has to be your next single" and I had a record coming out that week so I didn't get it. So that song has always been very close to me.'

Tom revealed another memory of his '60s singing career when he arrived at the Abbey Road studios for filming.

'Of course, the Beatles recorded here. Outside is the famous zebra crossing, I crossed it in 1960-something!'

In the new take on the classic image, Tom wears a classic navy blazer, stylish jeans and moss-green boots.

Jennifer wore a patterned minidress, velvet thigh-high boots and her sleek black hair is styled into a gamine crop.

will.i.am, 41, opted for a beige beanie, matching leather jacket, cropped white trousers and pristine sneakers.

The Bush frontman admits his split from the fellow Voice coach, with whom he has three sons, Kingston, 10, Zuma, eight, and Apollo, two, in August 2015 after 13 years of marriage inspired much his band's forthcoming album, Black and White Rainbows, but there is no drama between them.

He told Entertainment Tonight: '[Respecting Gwen] comes real natural to me. She's amazing, so why would I think anything less?

'It [the divorce] obviously informs the record. It's hard to separate yourself from the most monumental thing that happens in your life if you're an artist."

Asked what he appreciates most about the No Doubt hitmaker, he added: "Just how much she loves [the kids]. We both have the same interest at heart. [Our kids'] happiness. It's really simple.'
