'I don't want to be part of those lies': Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine slams previous reports of 'wishing' for gastric band surgery and refuses to be airbrushed

As a regular Coronation Street cast-member since 2001, she's used to taking part in photo-shoots and doing magazine interviews.

And on Friday, Jennie McAlpine, 33, revealed that she's never considered gastric band surgery, despite a popular magazine once reporting that she 'wished' she had it done.

Taking to her fellow Loose Women panellists, the actress, who takes on the role of Fiz in the popular ITV soap, revealed: 'I wish I could tell you that I’d had a gastric band but I haven’t.'

'I would always be asked and on this one photo shoot I did the interview and I was asked how I lost weight and I said oh do you know what? I’m bored with this,' she revealed to Andrea McLean, Nadia Sawalha, Leah Bracknell and Kaye Adams.

Looking pretty in a semi-sheer floral blouse, with a vest top underneath and skinny black jeans, it's hard to believe the beauty would have struggled with the standards in the beauty industry.

'You go to these shoots and they have a stylist and they say we’ve got this rail of clothes for you to wear Jenny you’ll look fabulous,' she relayed the process.

'And I’ll say no, this is really not me. And they’ll go no honestly put them on and do you know what? If they don’t work, we can make it look better in the edit.'

And she didn't seem hesitant in her response, firing back: 'Absolutely no! I refuse, I don’t want to be part of those lies really.'

'So I said no, I want to look OK in the dress and light me well, put my makeup on and that’ll do if there’s still a few bumps lets go with it.'

Jennie is no stranger to the Loose Women panel and during her last trip in January she revealed that she opted for a secret wedding because she hated being the 'centre of attention'.

The star and her partner Chris Farr decided a month before their nuptials to get hitched with just two witnesses in Manchester last year.

She explained: 'We live Manchester and had to do it in the city centre and our name was up there for 28 days and nobody saw. Secret is not the word, more surprise!

'People have said "weren’t your friends really annoyed?", but I thought what kind of friends would they be? I hope not!

'I love a good wedding, I do and I hope I’m invited to lots of them, I love a big wedding but for myself I wanted low-key. I didn’t want to be the centre of attention.

Despite it being just the two of them, the TV favourite insists she wouldn't have had it any other way - and feels 'complete' since tying the knot.

The couple have been together for more than a decade and have a two-year-old son named Albert.

Chris and Jennie both run Manchester restaurant and teashop Annie's - opening the eatery in 2012.
