'There's no bitterness': Louis Tomlinson gushes about his One Direction bandmates as he praises their support for his first solo performance
They held the title of being the biggest band in the world until their much-hyped hiatus in early 2016.
A year on from their break, Louis Tomlinson has opened up about One Direction's time apart, gushing about the support and respect they still hold for each other, disregarding any speculation there's animosity between them.
The 25-year-old - who sadly lost his mother Johannah Deakin aged 43 following long battle with leukaemia in December - was joined by his former bandmates in the wake of his heartbreak when he performed his debut single days after her passing.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about their lasting friendship, he insisted he's still extremely close with his music pals Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Liam Payne.
He said 'When I was on The X Factor, it was really nice all the boys came to support me and I think that’s what it’s all about. People love to write what they want to write but there’s no bitterness.'
When pushed for an answer on how long their hiatus will be, the father-of-one - who collaborated with DJ Steve Aoki on his first solo endeavor - explained they're all happy 'exploring solo projects'.
'No one knows the answer right now,' he added. 'Everyone's just enjoying a schedule that’s not as relentless and exploring solo projects.'

His candid confession comes after bandmate Niall opened up about a possibly reunion earlier this month.
Appearing on Nova's Smallzy Surgery, the Irish singer, 23, revealed with confidence: 'It will definitely happen, of course!'
Radio host Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small was welcomed into the singer's new LA pad in the Hollywood Hills for the candid chat.

Lounging on his sofa, Niall added: 'As I've said many times, we’d be stupid not to. It's going to be good when it happens... when it happens I don’t know.'
Having been created on Britain's X Factor in 2010, he openly said: 'It changed our lives, it was the biggest part of our lives.'
The boy band also consists of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and previously, Zayn Malik (who announced his departure in 2015).

Niall, much like his bandmates, has been working on solo projects of late, debuting his first single My Town last September.
The acoustic track was met with great success, reaching the top 10 in the UK and Ireland charts, and the top 20 over in the US.
'I'm doing this, going to go do a bit of a tour, Louis got his movie coming out, Harry's doing his thing and Liam's doing his thing,' Niall explained of the group members' busy schedules.
