Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka left the kids at home for this one.

The longtime couple enjoyed a relaxing day out on a luxury yacht with friends on Saturday, while holidaying in St. Barts.

Clad in a white T-shirt and grey shorts, with a baseball cap and sunnies shielding him from the sun, it wasn't long before the former How I Met Your Mother star had stripped down to a pair of white boardshorts printed with palm trees.

The pair appeared to be having a great time as they reclined on the yacht, walked along a nearby beach and swam in the ocean with friends.

Not joining the couple on their outing was their six-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon.

Neil and David tied the knot in Italy back in 2014, saying they wanted to do it for their children.

'I think when our kids got to the age where they were having reasonable conversations - where they're asking lots of why questions - then it seemed like to be able to have a real clear-cut explanation of who their daddy is,' the 43-year-old actor told The View shortly after their wedding. 'I think its great [to say], "He's my husband."'

The Gone Girl star admitted he even got a bit emotional on the big day.

'When you watch other people say their vows and they get all choked up you think, "C'mon, pull it together, man!"' he added. 'Then when you're standing there and it's you, and you have this piece of paper that's shaking... you can't help but just get super-duper choked up. I wasn't a crying mess or anything, but they're important words that need to be heard by the person that you're [marrying].'

And while no doubt enjoying the break from their two kids, Neil says he's more attracted to the 41-year-old chef now - since they became parents - than he's ever been.

'Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes,' he told Glamour magazine in 2014.

'That sort of made me re-fall in love with him,' he added.
