Lisa Vanderpump left then bride-to-be Katie Maloney in tears on Monday's episode of Vanderpump Rules when she initially refused to ordain at her wedding.

Katie and and fiance Tom Schwartz called on their SUR boss Lisa at home and surprise her with a posh English butler who formally asked her to officiate.

She stunned the couple by admitting that she could not automatically agree because she was so upset by their constant fighting.

'I take marriage very seriously. Very seriously. And the way you've been behaving lately has given me great cause for concern,' she warned them.

She balked after hearing of their bitter fighting even during their bachelor and bachelorette parties in New Orleans.

'It was only two or three days ago that you were at each other's throats. This has to be a new chapter in your life. Understand?

'So I'm concerned taking the responsibility. I just need to know that you're really committed to each other,' Lisa said.

She admitted later during an on-camera confessional: 'I think they need to ask each other whether getting married is the right decision.'

Her unexpected decision left Katie in tears, telling Lisa as she hugged her: 'I'm disappointed. In myself, in us.'

'It's OK — we got a little sloppy along the way,' Tom admitted.

'We have problems and they're big,' Katie admitted during an emotional confessional later.

'We're f***ed up and we know that. We're the first ones to admit and it's bad and it's ugly. And it's something we've had to face all summer long. We are better than that and we know that and we let ourselves forget that for a minute. For a long minute.'

After hugging, Lisa left them by saying: 'I can't say never. But not now.'

Katie later admitted to their friends that it was 'rock bottom for us' and she felt 'so empty.'

But Tom's best friend Tom Sandoval admitted: 'Lisa's the only one who has the balls to say what everyone was thinking: that she doesn't believe in this marriage.'

Ariana Madix had also admitted: 'Tom and Katie bottling their problems up until two weeks before the wedding is not a good solution. What if you wait until after the wedding and you uncork that bottle and it's f***ing rotten inside?'

As well as being devastated, the rowing couple took Lisa's words to heart and spent time working on remembering what left them in love in the first place, with Tom apologizing for previously having been unfaithful.

'We're starting a new chapter, we don't need to bring that garbage into it,' Katie told him, adding later in a confessional: 'I was able to forgive Tom for cheating because I know that is not who Tom is. I don't have any more doubts about Tom, and that is refreshing.'

Tom admitted: 'I'm not going to lie, my confidence in moving forward with this wedding has wavered a few times over the past couple of months. But in the last few days we've made a concerted effort to remind each other of why we're doing this in the first place.'

However, he insisted one area was not having problems, saying: 'Katie and I got a lot of sex in the beginning, and then sort of tapered off. But now, we had sex and it was like the best sex ever.'

Jax Taylor had jokingly offered to get ordained to take Lisa's place, with Tom saying: 'It would be like having Lucifer baptize you. It's just not right.'

But Lisa soon changed her mind after seeing the couple make such an effort on their love, telling them later: 'I am happy and honored now to officiate your wedding. I love you both. You're both lovely, lovely people.'

'You're gonna make me cry!' Tom told her, adding later: 'I wanna kiss Lisa right now — I mean, I always wanna kiss her — but especially right now.'

Lisa had one more request of her own, teasing Tom about the matching butt tattoo he got with Tom Sandoval by asking: 'Will you tattoo my name on your ass?'

'I gave them a giant push, but it seems like they've really taken it to heart,' Lisa said later of how her threat had seemed to help them reexamine why they loved each other in the first place.

Elsewhere in the episode, Stassi Schroeder started going on a series of dates, both from dating apps and a blind date, joking: 'I'm not looking for anyone to put a ring on it. Unless it's really big, and sparkly, in which case you can put a ring on it.'

She left her blind date looking stunned when she bragged that all the sleep she gets is 'why I am so pretty,' but she was the one who did not seem interested.

'This dude is so nice, the kind of guy I should want to date as opposed to a psychopathic bartender who steals sandwiches from gas stations, or someone who tries to steal my sex tapes,' she said.

'I'm just not feeling it. I was hoping this dude wouldn't be murdery — but now I'm thinking he's not murdery enough. Maybe I should split the difference and date somebody manslaughtery.'

The friends also posed for the latest round of photos for SUR that Lisa said she hoped would be 'salivatingly salacious.'

Tom Sandoval had treated the guys to a spray tan session and was seen doing endless push-ups to make sure his muscles looked their best for his near naked shots with girlfriend Ariana, who laid down on a table naked covered in fruit.

But he was more worried about something else showing too much, admitting: 'When you're doing a photoshoot like this, the last thing you want is to get a boner.'

'SUR has always been somewhere that's sexy, that's fun, and the people that work there have always reflected that,' Lisa said after the photoshoot, calling it 'an extended family.'
