Do YOU leave wet clothes in the washing machine overnight? Mother sparks a VERY heated debate after asking for advice on her laundry

  • Timing your washing just right can be a difficult task
  • One mother took to Mumsnet to ask if it was OK to leave wet washing overnight
  •  She sparked some very adamant opinions from women on the forum

It can be difficult enough to find the time to get a wash load on, let alone timing it so you'll be able to get it out of the machine once the cycle ends.

This was exactly the dilemma one mother faced, when she realised her washing wouldn't be done for another half an hour and she simply didn't think she could face staying awake for that long.

A user named MelonYelon took to Mumsnet to ask for advice - namely, whether it would be unreasonable of her to go to sleep and sort the clothes out whenever she woke up.

Start of it all: The online debate began when a Mumsnet user named MelonYelon asked if it would be reasonable for her to go to bed before her wash was done

She elicited a surprisingly divided response from her fellow mothers.

Plenty of women on the forum insisted they leave wet clothes overnight regularly, while others were horrified at the prospect insisting it would get mouldy and smell.

Some were more philosophical, with Justilou insisting one should always put 'life before laundry'.

Meanwhile, FloggingMolly was very straightforward when she insisted that - aside from the smell - the clothing would be 'creased to f***'.

Go for it! The vast majority agreed that MelonYelon should simply head to bed and that her washing would be 'fine'

Not so fast... Others were quick to insist that leaving wet washing overnight was not an option, suggesting it would 'stink'

Not so concerned about smell, FloggingMolly rightly pointed out that if she left the clothes they'd be 'creased to f***'
