Lily's outing comes just days after she penned an open letter to her rocker father, reassuring him he is 'forgiven' for 'not being the dad I expected'.

The actress, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Warren Beatty’s Rules Don’t Apply, published the letter in her debut book, Unfiltered.

In the book, she writes: 'I forgive you for not always being there when I needed and for not being the dad I expected.

'I forgive the mistakes you made. And although it may seem like it’s too late, it’s not. There’s still so much time to move forward.'

In her open letter, part of a collection of personal essays aimed at teenage girls, she also wrote of her father: 'We all make choices and, although I don’t excuse some of yours, at the end of the day we can’t rewrite the past.'

Lily, who was born in Surrey, is the only child from her father’s second marriage to American Jill Tavelman.

She was five when Collins split from her mother, reportedly ending the marriage by fax, before moving to the tax haven of Switzerland for the next 20 years.
