The Bachelor stylist tells all! FEMAIL gets the scoop on what it takes to get the ladies final rose ceremony ready for tonight's dramatic season finale

While Celebrity Stylist Cary Fetman has dressed Nick Viall, 36, all season long on The Bachelor, he didn't have the opportunity to work with the female contestants until a few days before the filming of the last episode.

'I'm ok with that,' says Cary. 'I get attached. I don't want to see anyone go home, seeing someone cry would make me cry.' 

In anticipation of tonight's final rose ceremony, we spoke to Cary about what it takes to get the ladies glam for what's promised to be "the most dramatic finale ever".

Cary tells us that he normally pulls gowns for the final three girls while the hometown dates are happening. 'At that time, the Bachelor's have a strong feeling of who their last three will be,' he says. 

In fact, according to Carey, they usually know who their top five will be as early as day one. 'The Bachelorettes know right away, it takes the guys a little longer,' he shares.

'When pulling for the ladies, I look based on each girl’s personality. And if you notice, the final two ladies always have completely different personalities.' 

This season's finalists are no different. Special Education Teacher Vanessa Grimaldi has an intense and serious demeanor, while fashion boutique owner Raven Gates is care-free and lighthearted.

Eager to make a lasting impression on the season's first episode, many women stepped out of the limo wearing the same bold shade of red. 'That would never happen at the final rose,' says Cary.

'After my fitting with the first finalist, I remove everything from the racks that look remotely like the dress she chose,' he says.

Cary gave his Instagram followers a sneak peak at what the ladies tried on. "Which one should she choose?! Sound off in the comments below," he captioned Vanessa's pictures below.

Cary describes the environment of the fitting as 'happy, relaxed and fun'. We set it up like a showroom or a boutique, so they can try on whatever they want and feel comfortable. We play dress up. We drink. I'm an old man, I know how to have fun.' 

While Cary is a professional stylist who has spent his career dressing celebrities like Donna Summers and Sarah Jessica Parker, he says that choosing the final rose ceremony gown is a collaborative effort.

'I tell the girl which is my favorite, but ultimately, this is not about me. 

'I feel so strongly about that. She has to be the person making the decision. She may be getting engaged. I want her to remember that day feeling good, not in what I want her to wear.'

Having spent everyday for the last 10 weeks with Nick, the ladies also use the one-one-one time with Cary to grill him on what he knows. 

'The girls know I've been with him everyday. It's their first time dealing with me so they try to get the information out of me. I get worked all the time.

'It's a big investment to be on the show,' admits Cary. 'The women have to take off from work, buy a new wardrobe, I don't know how they do it. It's an emotional day, so I console them and we play dress up.'

For the final fitting, Cary flew to Finland with 15 trunks full of gowns and accessories. With cooler temperatures being a factor, he had to pack thermals and boots.

Traveling with so many items, it's not unusual for the stylist to get stuck in Customs at the airport. But as a pro, he's used to it.
