'Some of them are there for another reason': MKR new judge Darren Robertson says teams are in it for fame and some of the food is 'rubbish'

'Some of them have a genuine passion and knowledge about food but that is not across the board. Some of them are clearly there for another reason,' Darren said alluding to the fact that fame was on the agenda.
'The attraction of being on a prime time show and all the fame (that comes with it) is tangible now.
'Unfortunately there is a bit of infatuation with the notion of celebrity and all that business. Good luck to them,' he said candidly.

He then revealed that the show brings out the worst in the contestants but that's what makes it good TV.
And when it came to rating the food, the 40-year-old wasn't too impressed either and said although some of the food was good, the rest was 'rubbish'.
He then admitted that there were only two or three really good cooks and that if he doesn't like something then he's not too good at hiding it and has no 'poker face'.

The part-owner of Blue Ducks moved to Byron two years ago with his family.
He has previously appeared on Ten's Recipe to Riches and has appeared on Masterchef Australia.
The decision to appear on My Kitchen Rules came about as he and fellow judge Colin Fassnidge are good friends and have known each other for the past 20 years.
