The Duchess of Cornwall is known for taking risks when it comes to hats, and today was no exception.

Camilla turned heads in a bold racing green felt creation as she joined racegoers for Ladies' Day at the Cheltenham Festival.

The 69-year-old royal paired the accessory with a pale, sea-foam green coat with ruffle detailing as she arrived on day two of the world-renowned meet.

Camilla brought a contrasting splash of colour to the bold look with a pale pink and white scarf.

She finished the outfit with a pair of black suede calf-length boots and small black handbag, and appeared to have her Canon camera slung over her shoulder.

The duchess was not the only royal visitor at the races today.

Zara Tindall was spotted arriving alongside close friend Dolly Maude, actor James Nesbitt and Chanelle McCoy, wife of star jockey Tony.

Zara looked stylish in a black-and-white checked coat, which she accessorised with a vibrant fuschia hat.

Meanwhile other racegoers made fashion statemens in tweed coats, thigh high suede boots and some rather extravagant headgear.

Plenty of women sported vast fur cossack hats, while other ladies still embraced jaunty headgear inspired by the glorious surrounding countryside and festooned with British blooms and pheasant feathers.

But while some got the look spot on, others appeared to have taken the country chic look too far with a plenty of bottom-scraping tweed minis among the fashion faux pas.

Other fashion disasters included some very over-the-top fur looks, with one lady opting to wear a fur hat so large she could barely see where she was heading.
