She must have backed a winner! Princess Anne gets VERY animated as she cheers on the riders at Cheltenham

  • Princess Anne, 66, was at Cheltenham in Gloucester for St Patrick's Thursday
  • Wore green midi coat and pinned horse racing brooch on her scarf
  • Mother-of-two looked animated as she cheered on her horse
  • Daughter Zara also attended but wasn't spotted with her mother

She's had a lifelong association with horse racing, so it's no wonder Princess Anne looked to be in her element as she attended today's Cheltenham festival.

The royal, 66, was clearly in excellent spirits as she cheered on a horse from the VIP spectator area.

It was the second day running the Princess has attended the festival and she looked picture perfect for her outing to the races.

She looked dressed down but elegant in a green tweed midi coat and calf length boots which she teamed with a trilby embellished with a gold flower.

To brighten up her look, she tied a red scarf around her neck and added a gold racing horse brooch to really look the part.

Also in attendance was Anne's daughter Zara, although she was not pictured with her daughter.

The Princess Royal has enjoyed a successful career competing in horse racing and dressage championships, with her first major title coming at the age of 21 when she won at the European Eventing Championship.
