The home is full of mismatched vintage furniture and collectables, including a huge stain glass window in her living room made for her by a friend in England.

Carrie previously spoke about her 1919 residence in Coldwater Canyon in a feature for Architectural Digest in 2004, saying: 'I had so much stuff, I had to live in a place where it wanted to go. The furniture was definitely in charge of where I ended up. If you can say anything about the house, it's always been playful.'

Her home originally belonged to Robert Armstrong, the ship's captain in King Kong, and the likes of Bette Davis have also lived there.

Carrie, who died aged 60, turned her guest room into a home for wandering Brits, and struck up an unlikely friendship with musician James Blunt, who wrote his hit ‘You’re Beautiful’ during his stay.

Security has now been upped at Carrie’s property, which belongs to her daughter, Billie Lourd, while her uncle, Todd Fisher, decides what to do with the home.

A friend exclusively told Dailymail.com: 'There are only two members of staff left, but there is a lot more security and cameras in most rooms.

'Nobody knows what is going to happen to the property, or Debbie’s, but we would love celebrity tours to visit. They both collected so many fascinating items over the years and had different, unique tastes when it came to decor.'

Debbie once held a huge collection of cinematic treasures, including Marilyn Monroe’s famous white dress from The Seven Year Itch, and Julie Andrews' guitar from The Sound of Music.

She tried for years to have the items put on display in a museum but was forced to part with them before she died, although she still kept dozens of props from movies at her home.

Meanwhile, a public memorial is being planned at Forest Lawn in Burbank, where the pair were buried side by side, giving fans the chance to pay their respects with friends and family.

A source said: 'It was a huge shock when they passed so suddenly and close together, and everyone is still grieving.

'But the family want to organize something special at the end of March for people to pay their respects.'
