Friday might have been a good day for shades of green, but it was an even better day for Shades of Blue.

'We’re so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do, and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that Shades of Blue has so clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal,' said Jennifer Salke, the network's president of entertainment.

'This show continues to mine powerful stories that always leave us hungry for more.'

On the show, which averages about 5 million weekly viewers, J.Lo plays a single mom named Harlee Santos who's a police detective in a Brooklyn-based squad.

Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Liotta, isn't shy about blurring the lines of the law to keep his crew safe and productive.

The co-stars appeared earlier this month at AOL’s BUILD Series in New York City, where they discussed their simpatico working relationship.

Said Lopez: 'We were so excited to get Ray for the part. It is like we have been married for two years and it is working out.'

Liotta, most famed for playing monster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese's 1992 opus, said that he's actually the more high-maintenance of the two.

'Jennifer does her music and everything, but it turns out I’m the diva!' the actor said. 'Jen is very cool and quiet.'

Lopez made headlines earlier this week in her burgeoning romance with former New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, as an insider told US Weekly that she's already introduced the power hitter to her twins (with singer ex Marc Anthony) Max and Emme.

'The twins like him,' the insider told the publication, 'which is a big reason she likes him.'

Shades of Blue airs Sundays at 10/9c on NBC.
