Two women have been arrested after former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan was attacked after a concert.

After a gig in Brighton women ambushed the 25-year-old, who featured in the 2012 TV series, and tore out clumps of her hair as well as scratching and bruising her face.

Today the singer-songwriter posted pictures of herself clutching the torn out hair on social media and praised the police for making arrests.

The attack happened on Thursday as Spraggan and her guitarist wife, Georgina Gordon, left a gig in the East Sussex city.

Police were called and the couple told officers that they had been attacked in the street by strangers.

Another photo she put on Instagram showed the bruises and cuts on her face.

In her posting she said: 'Was attacked tonight after the show in Brighton, along with my guitarist and wife. Sussex Police have been amazing and are pursuing a charge.

'Got a bit of whiplash and a few bruises but we're all good. Scary s**t, man. Be safe out there!'

A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed today confirmed that two women from London had been arrested and interviewed about the attack. It was understood that they were released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Fans of the musician contestant also commented on social media.

One posted: 'So sorry to hear that. You don't deserve it you are all amazing people. Much love.'

Another wrote: 'Ohmygod! Some human beings are just downright disgusting! Sending my love to you, your wife and guitarist Lucy! Keep that beautiful talented head held high girl.'

A third said: 'Can't believe it, some people, are we even in the same world? Sending good thoughts to all!'.
