John Poppleton, from California, creates mindblowing works of art painted directly onto human skin using fluorescent shades. His project, called Under Black Light, consists of 'bodyscapes' of spectacular natural phenomena such as African sunsets, tropical oceans during rainstorm, and mountain ranges under moonlight. In more otherworldly, eerie designs the artist depicts cosmic scenes of stars, galaxies and shimmering auroras. ...read

Artist, 24, creates stunning sculptures using beaches as her blank canvas just one month after picking up a rake for first time
Chloe Dickey drew a huge floral design on a Port Macquarie beach on Saturday in under two hours. The 24-year-old from Lake Cathie, NSW, works in the wet sand at low tide meaning her drawings don't stick around for long when the waves roll in.
Feline arty! Artist loves her pet cat so much she's added it to works by Botticelli, Dali and even the Mona Lisa
A bizarre but strangely wonderful concept of classic paintings and fine art work 'improved' by a fat ginger cat, Fat Cat Art is rapidly growing its online fan base. The pieces are the work of Russian artist Svetlana Petrova who features her own cat Zarathustra in every picture.

Tisha Cherry, a New Jersey-born registered nurse, takes inspiration from films, music, and celebrities, and recreates iconic images using everyday food (pictured). 'Pop culture is essentially my muse and the food on my plate is my medium,' Ms Cherry says of her unusual hobby.

English Tapas (Rough Trade)
With an album title inspired by a pub menu that described chips, a small pork pie and half a Scotch egg as English tapas, Nottingham duo Sleaford Mods deliver devilishly dark dispatches from an England untouched by gentrification. But despite some vivid one-liners, Jason Williamsons tuneless, sometimes expletive-strewn rants and Andrew Fearns abrasive keyboards make this tough going.
★★
Home (Peak)
Dubbed a class act when they won Britains Got Talent in 2014, musical theatre group Collabro have since parted company with Simon Cowell, but this third album suggests a gainful career beyond reality TV. The quartet display terrific technique, though this collection of show tunes is shackled by hopelessly safe song choices. Oh What A Night is tackled with poise, but Send In The Clowns and Thats Life are blunted by familiarity.
★★★
Freedom Highway (Nonesuch)
Giddens covered Patsy Cline and Nina Simone on her promising 2015 debut. This finds the singer and banjo player tackling a vintage Staple Singers number on the title track, but also taking a bold step forward with more of her own material. Better Get It Right The First Time fuses Memphis R&B; and modern rap.
★★★
Dirty Projectors (Domino)
Singer and guitarist David Longstreth has worked with Paul McCartney as a producer, but the band Dirty Projectors remains his main concern. This haunting break-up album is radically eclectic. It veers from Up In Hudsons barbershop harmonies to the chamber strings of Little Bubble. Cool Your Heart is a pop treat.
★★★★
Prisoner (Blue Note)
Prolific country-rocker Adams once made three albums in one year and his quality control inevitably suffered. Prisoner, happily, finds the US singer-songwriter realising the rich promise of early solo records Heartbreaker and Gold. Inspired by the end of his marriage to singer Mandy Moore, its an honest account of his emotional torment. Titles such as Broken Anyway tell their own story, and Prisoner matches its heartbreak lyrics with power chords, crashing drums and robust melodies.
★★★
Highway Queen (New West)
Posing astride a Texas Longhorn cow on the sleeve of this confessional third album, Nikki Lane looks every inch the country outsider. But the Nashville rebel is poised for a mainstream breakthrough with Highway Queen. A tough-talking wildheart in the tradition of Loretta Lynn, she celebrates love on the run with the title track before addressing small-town rumour-mongering on Big Mouth. Her penchant for dirty, Stones-like blues-rock could make her the new face of outlaw country.
