Laura Dern was having a blue day at the New York premiere of her new movie, Wilson on Sunday.

Dressed in a patterned blue dress and black boots, the 50-year-old looked stunning as she posed on the red carpet alongside co-stars including Cheryl Hines and Woody Harrelson.

Meanwhile, Cheryl, 51, opted for a red asymmetrical mini-dress with frill detailing and matching red heels.

The tight-knit cast appeared to enjoy the opportunity to catch up, laughing on the red carpet and talking inside the event.

Wilson tells the story of a lonely man, played by Woody, 55, who tracks down his ex-wife, played by Laura, 17 years after she left him.

He then discovers he has a teenage daughter named Claire, played by actress Isabella Amara, 18, and embarks on a quest to meet her.

Laura Dern joined her costars Woody Harrelson and Cheryl Hines at the NYC premiere of her latest movie, Wilson.

'He’s kind of a gregarious curmudgeon who’s a little over-honest in life,' Woody told Deadline of his character in the film. 'He says things that get him into trouble, but he really is just trying to reach people in his own way.'

Meanwhile, Laura says playing the character of Pippi was every actress' dream come true.

'In terms of the great good fortune of finding fierce, complicated, flawed, beautiful, funny characters for women, this is an incredible gift, for all of us girls here,' she added.

'Seeing people who are equals, both in their rage, in their want to be loved, in their loneliness, in their vulnerability.'
