Given her hectic work schedule, she's always one to make the most of her day off.

And Helena Bonham Carter looked typically quirky as she headed out on her trusty bike in London earlier this week.

The 50-year-old British actress wrapped up warm with a black coat, over a stylish floral dress, which she jazzed up with a bulky red scarf as she ran some errands.

The Sweeney Todd star was hard to miss in the brightly coloured piece of clothing, which was effortlessly draped around her neck and down the side.

Clearly in her element, Helena peddled away on the bike - the movement of which raised up her flowy dress to unveil her knee-high black boots.

The Alice in Wonderland star ensured all her belongings were kept safe in the large vintage-inspired basket.

The talented beauty's thick blonde tresses were unstyled and framed her make-up free face.

The actress had recently been enjoying a girly getaway with her mother Elena Propper de Callejon in Los Angeles.

Helena has always enjoyed a close relationship with Elena, who is a French-Spanish psychotherapist.

She has made a point to pay tribute to her mother throughout her illustrious movie career and dedicated her BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress, which she received for her performance in The King's Speech, to Elena.

Helena had also spent plenty of time with her mother in New York back in February, while she filmed for the new Ocean's Eight movie.

The actress is set to star alongside Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway in the big screen all-female reboot of Ocean's Eleven.

The actress was previously in a relationship with film director Tim Burton - but the pair split in 2014 after thirteen years together.

The Hollywood couple, who share two children Billy, 13, and Nell, 9, had first got together in 2001, when the 58-year-old cast her in The Planet of the Apes.

They went on to make six further films together, including Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, Alice In Wonderland and Dark Shadows.

The pair famously didn't marry during their relationship and unconventionally lived in two adjoining houses in London with their two children.
