James Van Der Beek shared that touching tribute to the youngest of his four children on Friday, celebrating her first year of life.

'Just when I thought nobody could follow my other girls... along came Emilia,' he wrote.

The actor, 40, and his wife Kimberly, 35, both shared photos of Emilia on her special day, the first pictures of the tot since they unveiled her in a family photo two days after her birth in 2016.

In addition to Emilia, the married pair of six years also have daughter Olivia, aged six, son Joshua, aged five and another daughter Annabel, aged three.

James referred to Emilia as a 'sweet, determined, magical little soul' in the post.

Kimberly added to the love fest, writing on her Instagram: 'Her zest for life, curiosity, independence, joy and determination captivate my heart everyday.'

The Dawson's Creek actor also had kind words for his wife, who celebrated her birthday just a day before Emilia's.

On social media, James called his wife 'A beautiful soul who brightens the world of everybody lucky enough to have her float through their orbit.'

The pair married in 2010, just one year after James filed for divorce from his first wife actress Heather McComb.

March has been a busy month for the Van Der Beek family, their only son Joshua celebrated his fifth birthday on March 13.

Just before that , James turned 40 on March 8th.

On his big day, James posted a video of an on-set celebration while he shot his new series What Would Diplo Do?

His children were with him for the party and seemed none too pleased with the commotion, covering their ears with their hands as staffers sang Happy Birthday to their father.

James will be starring, writing and executive producing What Would Diplo Do, which will premiere later this year.
