This time, though, they'll be appearing as themselves and interviewing one another for season six of Variety Studio: Actors on Actors presented by Shutterstock.

On Saturday she was seen draping her arms affectionately about his shoulders for a photo-shoot promoting their episode.

Nicole's wavy blonde hair tumbling over her shoulders, she'd slid into a burgundy turtlenecked dress that went slightly sheer over her pencil thin legs.

Meanwhile, sitting on a stool beside her, Ewan had popped on a charcoal suit over a fossil grey sweater, setting his burgundy-booted feet on a wooden box.

They also got in a bit of posing on a grey carpet in front of a Variety and Shutterstock backdrop, as well as taping their episode in the selfsame outfits.

For the actual filming, they sat opposite each other on plush grey armchairs, separated by a fashionably tiny round coffee table.

In Baz Lurhmann's frenetic 2001 jukebox musical, Ewan's penniless English poet falls for Nicole's cabaret singer, who performs at the titular Paris nightclub.

There'd been rumors the two leads had carried on an affair during filming, and the year the film was released, Nicole, now 49, split from her then-husband Tom Cruise.

Yet Ewan, married since 1995, denied the affair took place, insisting to Details magazine at the time that Nicole's divorce 'wasn't anything to do with me though.'

Nicole had nabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Actress by way of her performance in this film, though the trophy that year went to Halle Berry for Monster's Ball.

That'd been Nicole's first Oscar nod, and she did manage to win the next year by playing Virginia Woolf in The Hours, earning two more nominations since.
