Childhood favorite Anne of Green Gables seen in first trailer for Netflix mini-series adaptation
She's the orphan girl whose tales of her adventures have been captivating children for over a hundred years.
And Anne of Green Gables - played by 15-year-old Amybeth McNulty - was seen in the first trailer for the highly anticipated Netflix mini-series adaptation on Tuesday.
The spirited redhead is seen making her way to her infamous home of Green Gables, before being greeted by her adoptive parents - who are disappointed she is not a boy.

Things don’t start out so smoothly for Anne Shirley, as can be seen in the trailer, as a
a whole world of imagination and adventure await her - despite being told there has been a mistake with her adoption.
'What good is she for us?' elderly spinster Marilla asks her brother, with whom she shares custody.
'We might be some good for her,' he sagely replies.

'Girls can do anything a boy can do and more,' she defiantly tells Marilla Cuthbert, played by Geraldine James.
'Isn't it wonderful that every day can be an adventure?' the 13-year-old character muses optimistically, despite being bullied by her classmates and a disappointment to her carers.
The young girl meets her future best friend Diana and frenemy Gilbert Blythe.

With her hair in braids, she wears a smock dress and can be seen blossoming from frightened youngster from an abusive background, to charming the small town in which they live with her intelligence and spirit.
The 1908 novel has been adapted for the screen numerous times previously.
The book by L. M. Montgomery has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
The mini-series hails from Emmy-winning writer Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad) and the two-hour series premiere will be directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider).
The eight-part series - titled Anne - will be available on Netflix for streaming on May 12.
