Hip-hop hits the cobblestones! Will.I.Am releases flashy video for new single Fiyah... and it was shot on set of beloved British soap Coronation Street

After appearing for a number of seasons as a judge on The Voice UK, it appears that he's now further confirming his appreciation for British culture.

Will.I.Am has just released the music video for his new single, FIYAH, which was filmed - complete with pyrotechnics and a host of backing dancers - on the Coronation Street set in Salford last month.

The 42-year-old Los Angeles native, who also wrote the track, chose to film in the unusual location because he 'loved being on the set'.

Will and his 20 identically-clad backing dancers took over the Manchester studios - where the long-running soap is filmed - for an entire night on March 14.

Once the cast had left for the day, a crew brought dazzling pyrotechnics and high-end production values out in force to create the clip for the single.

Fiyah is a word that the musician has been used often of late which, like the song, the Scream and Shout hitmaker says he uses 'in appreciation of British culture'.

It has become a regular term of approval on The Voice, where Will.I.Am is a popular judge, but it had never before been heard echoing down Corrie's alleyways.

Keen Corrie fans will never have seen either the street of the famous Rovers Return pub looking quite like this before.

And they might be wondering why the former Black Eyes Peas frontman chose to film on their set.

A spokesperson for The Voice told MailOnline: 'Will decided to film there after visiting the set during filming of The Voice blind auditions (both are filmed in Salford) and saying how much he loved being there.'

Unlike the star, none of the Corrie locals have ever dropped a cool £150,000 on drinks on a night out in the establishment either, although landlady Liz McDonald would surely like it if they did.

With heavy beats dropping in the background, Will.I.Am raps about 'spending 150 grand in here'.

He then adds that the pub is 'so hot it is burning' and says he is going to 'play my jam in here'.

Another figure appearing on Corrie's hallowed grounds is model India Love, who can be seen in the video playing around on the pub's slot machines.

Clearly proud to be part of the 'creative masterpiece', the stunning brunette, who has nearly three million followers on social media, posted a picture of herself in the video to Instagram.

She captioned the picture, in which she can be seen wearing a fur coat and taking a selfie, with the words: 'Always SO fun to be apart of my boss @iamwill's creative materpieces. Check out his New* music video (in appreciation for #britishculture ) called #FIYAH filmed at #coronationstreet'

It was landlady Liz - or rather her off-screen persona the legendary Corrie star Beverley Callard - who did her bit to get the music producer onto the set.

A source told The Sun: 'After much persuading of producers, and the seal of approval from 'Corrie' veteran Bev Callard, he wangled his way on to the set.

'It's going to be chaos - loads of special effects on the cobbles and in the pub. will wants as much fire and explosion as the set can handle.'

Representatives for both The Voice and Corrie insisted that no filming for the beloved British soap was disturbed in the process of creating the single.

A spokesperson for The Voice explained: 'Will filmed overnight on the Corrie set once the show had finished production for the day and the cast had left.'

Although the song was only released on Sunday on iTunes, its creator had already debuted his original tune on The Voice.

Original lyrics: Sharing the song's logo image, the judge wrote: 'Tonight on @thevoiceuk I will be performing #FIYAH #FIYAH...by the way... I wrote it 3 days ago'

Three weeks ago, the star announced he would be performing Fiyah on The Voice, and that he had written the song in a creative whirlwind a mere three days previously.

And on the day the new single was released, the dedicated judge spent time with Jennifer Hudson and The Voice UK 2017 Winner Mo Adeniran at The Voice Uk 2017 Final at The LH2 Studios in London.
