So Julianna Margulies put her fashion wisdom to work on Monday in New York City at the MCC Theater's annual Miscast gala.

The 50-year-old actress cut a chic figure in a sleeveless LBD that highlighted her toned arms when she hit the red carpet.

But Piper Perabo, 40, played by her own style rules in a bold black and white striped loose dress.

The Good Wife actress Juliana's black dress incorporated floral embroidery around the shoulder and a semi-sheer panel around the decolletage.

She completed the look with a pair of strappy black sandals and a matching clutch.

The ER alum styled her hair slicked back, and a splash of glossy pink lipstick added a pop of color.

Meanwhile, Piper's dress had an eye-catching contrast with thick black and white vertical stripes that were incorporated from the collar down the to skirt.

The blonde looked confident in a dress that had an unstructured finish and featured pleating around the skirt's low-slung waistline.

The collar had ribbons that were designed in the same pattern and stretched from the lapel down to the knee. Wide cuffs and black satin round buttons completed the striking outfit.

The occasion celebrated Off-Broadway institution MCC Theater's 30th anniversary gala.

Last year, Julianna concluded her hit CBS drama The Good Wife in early May, ending in its seventh season.

It is a role for which she claimed the 2011 and 2014 Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy award.

Piper debuted the ABC crime drama Notorious last year and earned a People's Choice Award nomination in the Favorite Actress in a New TV Series category.
