'I love being able to speak!' Susanna Reid takes playful jabs at GMB co-host Piers Morgan as she makes TV appearances without him

It was recently revealed that she'd rejected a role on Love Actually 2 because a small part of the script poked fun at her Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan.

But Susanna Reid had no problems taking playful jabs at the 52-year-old herself, when she made a round of promotional appearances on ITV on Tuesday morning.

Appearing as a guest on GMB as she and Piers enjoy some time off during the Easter break, the 46-year-old brunette beauty joked about 'being able to speak' while promoting her new show Save Money Good Food without her opinionated sidekick.

She told Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins: 'It’s so strange to be on this side of the sofa... I love being here, I love being able to speak! Where's that little voice that normally happens over the top?'

Later, as Kate unintentionally spoke over Susanna, the fill-in host said: 'Sorry for talking over you there. Just call me Piers Morgan - with better hair!'

She also appeared on Lorraine Kelly's eponymous show in the same studios, where she joked again about being on TV without Piers.

While she cracked jokes about enjoying Piers' absence, Susanna recently revealed to the Daily Mirror that she turned down the chance to appear in Love Actually 2 because it involved a jab at her co-host's expense.

The Comic Relief special, which aired during last month's Red Nose Day broadcast, featured a scene in which Hugh Grant's Prime Minister character said: 'Times have got harder and people are nervous and fearful.

'And it's not just in politics that things are tough, Usain Bolt has run his last Olympics, the Harry Potter films are finished, Piers Morgan is still alive.'

This swipe at the presenter was apparently enough for Susanna to pass on the opportunity to appear in the short film.

The 46-year-old allegedly insisted that appearing in the 'sequel' would have been disrespectful in light of her daily working relationship with Piers, 52.

She also said: 'I enjoy how viewers react to my relationship with Piers on the sofa. It’s evolving – like any good TV "marriage".

'He winds me up no end, but I also like him.

Susanna did appear on Red Nose Day, however -with comedic pair Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer 'interviewing' her in character.

Partaking in a bit of role reversal, Susanna was asked a series of bizarre and crude questions - including whether she would be inclined to use a £10 note or sock to clean herself with after going to the toilet, if she had ran out of loo roll.

Susanna politely swerved the question, but was left red-faced when Vic then confronted her with a fake penis.

He had asked Susanna if she had 'seen Kong' - referring to the new movie release - before proceeding to open his legs and flash his manhood at her.

She immediately covered her eyes and tried to hold back her laughter as Vic decided to share a description of 'Kong'.
