But Britney Spears opted for an unusual take on workout gear as she hit the gym in a new social media video on Tuesday night.

The pop princess, 35, looked incredible as she flaunted her washboard abs in a barely-there crochet string bikini top while working up a sweat in a gruelling session.

Britney swapped her glitzy towering heels for practical trainers as she trained in the gym with weights.

Wearing her golden locks in a high ponytail, the mother-of-two showed off her pretty features when training alongside a blonde friend.

She wrote on Instagram: 'Training keeps me motivated and inspired... but I'd rather be dancing.'

The couple have been dating for five months after they struck up a romance on the set of her music video The Slumber Party.

Britney is a doting mother to her two sons Sean Preston, 11, and Jayden James, 10, with her ex-husband, dancer Kevin Federline, 39.

The couple tied the knot in September 2004 in Studio City, California, just five months after they started dating.

The singer will visit Israel, Japan and The Philippines, with more dates expected to be announced in the future.
