Friends in high places! Khloe Kardashian 'sent pal Cheryl a lavish £5,000 Harrods gift hamper' to congratulate her and Liam Payne on the birth of their first child

New parents Cheryl and Liam Payne have no doubt been showered with gifts since the arrival of their first child two weeks ago.

And the couple's A-list pals have reportedly been among those sending their best wishes in the form of lavish presents, with Cheryl's friend Khloe Kardashian said to have sent the new mum a £5,000 gift hamper.

According to Closer Magazine, Khloe chose an expensive hamper of treats from top London store Harrods as a way of congratulations.

Khloe was also among the first to pen her well-wishes to Cheryl when she announced the birth of her son via Instagram on Saturday March 25.  

Writing in the Instagram comments for Cheryl's post, Khloe gushed:  'Congratulations doll!!!!! God bless your family!!!!! I couldn't be happier for you love!'

Cheryl and Khloe struck up a friendship on the night that the former Girls Aloud singer posed with Khloe's big sister Kim Kardashian in string of selfies taken at a concert by Kim's husband Kanye West in 2013.

As well as Kim, Cheryl appeared to have found a fan in Khloe, who told her Twitter followers that the Geordie beauty was her new BFF, saying: 'I found a soul sister in @CherylCole tonight #Yeezus.'

Cheryl and Khloe have never been pictured together though they seem to share a mutual appreciation for each other, across the pond.

On Khloe's birthday in June 2015, Cheryl scribed an emotional dedication in which she wrote: 'Sometimes in life you come across people you just connect with, that was exactly how I felt when I met Khloe.

'I felt like I knew her already. She has such a big heart and very special soul.. I recently realised she is a cancer sign. Same day as my Dad and 3 days before me. I then understood why I get her on so many levels.

Cheryl and Liam confirmed the birth of their son on Saturday March 25, ahead of a family-filled Mother's Day on the Sunday.

The Geordie singer wrote beside a sweet Instagram snap of beau Liam cradling the newborn: 'On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream.'

'Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival.'

'Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever.'

Liam then took to his own Instagram to gush of his new status as a father, beside the same candid image.

He wrote in a lengthy statement: 'My close friends and family know there are very few times when I'm left speechless... wow!'

'I'm incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it's a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far.'

Continuing on his admiration for his girlfriend, he continued: 'I'm completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she's really made my dreams come true.

'We haven't named him yet but he's already capturing hearts including mine. I feel very blessed.'
